New Year 2009

After staying away from the crowds and chaos of New Year in the city for several years we ventured down to experience the fireworks close up. We were able to get access to the coolness and quietness of The House and so miss most of the crowds.

I didn't feel up to staying for the full midnight experience, stunning though it was, so we decamped after the 9pm show - working our way up MacQuarie street against the tide of merrymakers heading to the Domain and Botanic Gardens. It was a perfect night for it - balmy weather and a gentle breeze. We walked to the back streets of Darlinghurst and had a coffee at Bills before catching the bus home.

New Years Day was a swim and snorkel at Clovelly with a bit of sandcastle building on the side.

A great way to start 2009.

Sounds ideal - we braved it once [fifteen years ago] for the 9pm fireworks; doubt I'll ever do it again!

A day at the beach in yesterday's heat sounds good!

Happy New Year.
